OAK FROM "500-YEARS OLD FOREST"
(Quercus robur)
(perimeter:583cm, height:40m)
Vertical shows us a beautiful oak, which has the record
in the biggest trunk distance to the first branch-20 meters
among all known to me oaks of the National Park. The tree grows
in so called "500-year old forest" - I made up this name myself for
defining the biggest cluster of trees with perimeter over 500cm in BPN
(In 1 hectare area there are 7 such oaks). The tree has a beautifully shaped
crown with huge boughs. The trunk base resembles the other giant oak
"King Niezanowa". I love this oak - it really makes an amazing
impression(it is enough to imagine a tree which crown rests on a
straight pole-like trunk at the height of 6th floor and its top reaches
12th floor).
